"AMERICAN FIGHT CLUB" THE AUTHORITY! - Since their inception in 1993, The Authority! have steadily built a devout following of true believers who identify with their NO BULLSHIT approach to songwriting. They have maintained their allegiance to their original vision and have stuck to their own style without letting it get predictable. It's the distinctive guitar and powerhouse drumming that sets the Authority! apart from the current herd of "streetpunk" bands that are clamoring for credibility. After 2 full-length albums under their belt, The Authority! returned to the studio and recorded some of their most accomplished material to date. Bill Barnes has matured into an incisive lyricist and storyteller. His songs ring true with a ripe authenticity, and the music reminds one of the remote possibility of Slade hooking up with the 4Skins. Aggressive yet catchy - just try and deny the raw, full-throttle appeal of "Embrace the Hate" and "Just Fine". CALLAGHAN - This new 5 piece from the streets of Chicago is going to turn some heads real soon. Outsider Records is proud to introduce the punk rock masses to Callaghan. Pulsing with creativity, these guys approach their mission with an utter urgency often lacking in a scene dominated by 4th rate Emo bands. At first, their aggressive approach brings to mind a variety of influences from the Stooges to Rose Tattoo to The Effigies. But perhaps the band's own description of their noise fits them best: "Naked Raygun gangfucked by the Deadboys" That kind of wild name-dropping often spells desperation for bands trying to adapt an identity but Callaghan uses these and other icons from the past as a springboard for their angular, energetic punk rock. Songs like "Devil's Plaything" and "Angus" are closet classics, waiting to be exposed. This band is likely on the verge of something great hereÉ Potential packed tight, fuse about to be lit, detonation is just around the corner! HUDSON FALCONS - What can you say about one of this decade's most talented and promising rock and roll bands. Not only great music played with fiery passion, but backed with intelligent lyrics that bring to light the daily struggles of the working man. These songs were recorded live at Boston's WMBR last Fall and reveal this group's specialty - namely playing LIVE. Fans of The Falcons know that when they play, it's always a mixture of beer and bodies in motion. Originally from Hudson County in New Jersey, these guys' true home is the road where they spend about half of the year touring their guts out, playing to working class America. Check out their version of Chuck Berry's "Little Queenie" along with crowd favorites "Free Lori" "Worker Fate" and "Revolution". Rootsy, epic, anthemic - the Hudson Falcons are as real as rock gets. THE TRENDS - These guys are primal punk rock - fun and abrasive party music that'll get your boots a-kickin', fighting to the beat! The Trends have taken 4 chord garage punk, stripped it down to the bare essentials and make it not just rock but soar on a wave of alcohol and adrenaline. The snotty decadence of the vocals mixes well with the energized tunes and instantly grab you and shake you 'til you're sick. "The sound of young Sonoma," The Trends steal the rhythm section from The Bodies and make off with the vocalist of The Shifters to produce one of the bay area's most talked about new bands. The Trends won't drink you under the table, but their brand of pogo punk will definitely give you that extra bit of attitude when last call rolls around. Turn it up, throw your fists in the air, and scare the neighbors.
